Anglo worked with Grosvenor Britain & Ireland (‘Grosevnor’) and Gnewt Cargo on a brand new pilot to help reduce congestion and pollution with consolidated, centralized, zero-emission deliveries to London’s West End. Two-thirds of deliveries to London businesses are for personal use, so the pilot was designed to consolidate staff deliveries with our office supplies using zero emission electric vehicles. This not only reduced the number of delivery vehicles in use, but significantly reduced emissions as well.
The pilot ran from the 25th September, until Sunday 31st December, and focused entirely on deliveries to Grosvenor’s head office at 70 Grosvenor Street in Mayfair.
Richard Jefferies, Grosvenor’s Operations Director and a driving force for the pilot, said:
“Here at Grosvenor, we take our responsibilities to the environment and quality of life on the London estate seriously. Roads on the estate are increasingly congested and polluted – this is a serious matter that leads to a poorer environment, health issues and a negative impact on the estate’s attractiveness as a place to live, work and relax. Anglo has been our trusted service partner for office supplies for some time now and they were willing to show ambition about this consolidation pilot to cut traffic and use sustainable transport.”
The pilot was very successful, and in just over 3 months, 1,146 parcels were consolidated into just 65 deliveries, as well as 3,667 miles and 611 litres of fuel saved, equating to a reduction of 1.895 tonnes of Co2. We are thrilled with the progress made with the initiative and we are excited to continue after this trial period! We will also be posting regular updates about the project on our website, and across our social media channels, so make sure to stay tuned!
