As London’s leading supplier of business products and services, we’ve joined forces with Dockland & City Dairy to champion deliveries of glass bottled milk in the capital, as opposed to plastic.

The UK generates an estimated 5million tonnes of plastic annually, and there are believed to be 46,000 pieces of plastic in every square mile of ocean. In the belief that every Londoner should do their bit to combat the plastic crisis, we took an electric milk float to the streets of the city on 19th April to spread the message.

From Bank to Holborn and Temple, we handed out 250 pints of milk in glass bottles that can be reused up to 50 times, alongside promoting the concept of returning ‘Back To Glass’ as the environmentally conscious option.

Local businesspeople were excited by the concept, citing the ‘nostalgia’ of traditional milk deliveries and appreciating the substantial environmental benefits.

Docklands and City Dairy have been delivering to London businesses for more than 25 years, and are now moving towards a fully electric delivery fleet. They go the extra mile by delivering directly to catering kitchens and office fridges.

“We felt very passionately about enabling people to fight against the spiralling plastic crisis simply by changing the way they purchase dairy,” said Russell Hodson, CSR Director at Anglo.

“As suppliers of many environmentally friendly procurement solutions, including deliveries on zero emission vehicles in the centre of London, this is a cause very close to our hearts. Every container we stop from entering our oceans makes a real difference.”
